My "Why" as a wedding & Events Singer

It's the business coach moguls favourite catchphrase. Along with "who's your ideal client?". This questions is the core of most small business owners essence and the driving force behind every action and decision made. As it's also something incredibly important to know as a prospective couple or client. As of course, we need to be met on the same or at least similar page. Without know this answer, it can actually lead to aimless wandering and going about your small business with very littler direction or motivation. "What is your why?"

"Why do you do what you do?" "What is it all for?"

And there are two ways of answering said burning question. First of all...from the perspective of myself. "Why do I? Me? Why have I chosen to sing for weddings and events?" To which the answer is pretty obvious. I just love singing. As a dancing school, musical theatre, performing kid since the age of two. Music is part of my DNA. Singing is an art form that allows me to be expressive. Not only is it therapeutic, (there's actual science behind the health benefits that singing can have on the body and brain). But it's also just fun! And if I'm going to do something for a living, I'd like it to be something that I enjoy. Also to be quite frank I don’t really know how to do anything else as well. (Good job I love it so much then ey?).

But it’s not just about the satisfaction that performing brings myself as an individual. But the main "WHY" and driving force behind this singing career and why I work with couples, families, venues and events... Is the ripple effect of, joy and connection that singing and music brings to other people. Real life people.

Being able to share and play witness to audiences, reacting, dancing, singing and sometimes crying through the power of music. And in my case, nostalgic music is something quite magical. As a self proclaimed, some may call “woo woo” and spiritual person. I genuinely see performing as a visceral way of sharing energy and relating to others. On a human level. Like let’s deep it for a second, singing is literally sending out sound vibrations out into the world. Not from an external instrument, but from within my own body (and soul). Sometimes it’s joyous and other times it’s emotional. Regardless of the vibe: music and singing creates emotions within others and it’s actually an amazing experience to be a part of.

On this particular topic I could blog for paragraphs and paragraphs. But I don't think I need to. My "Why" should be simple and easy to understand. And to put it simply:

For me, through singing, I’m not only able to connect with others. But it allows me to create and be a part of your real life, wholesome, memories and moments. And in a world that’s becoming increasingly digital and separated. It’s not only something that’s incredibly special. But also in my belief, necessary! And from now on, if ever anyone asks me this question. I'll show them this gorgeous below picture of myself and one of my gorgeous 2024 brides Alex. (@florencemayphotography) Here she is embracing me straight after my performance during her Ceremony, saying thanks after our time working together. Pure, wholesome, connective joy! All the best, Abbi-Kaye (Viva la Vintage) x
