10 Old School & Romantic Aisle Entry Song ideas - For A Timeless Wedding Ceremony

Updated: Oct 29, 2025

When we think of the wedding ceremony, we think of perhaps the most valued, memorable, and iconic part of your wedding day. It's usually the most serious as well as the most “lovey-dovey” section. It's typically the big opener, where everyone gathers, nerves are high, and excitement fills the room as guests wait to see the happy couple united together. It can also feel a little daunting (there’s really no need, you’ll be just fine).

The ceremony is a wonderful opportunity for you, as a couple, to set the tone for not only the day but your entire relationship. Obviously, as a wedding singer, I’m biased when I say that music is the perfect way to incorporate your love story and personalise the ceremony to you (especially if you’ve opted for a more traditional service). But it’s also the time to lay down the lore of your relationship and the journey still to come.

The aisle entrance moment is perhaps the most highly anticipated part of the day. It’s usually when everyone’s crying or at least welling up as you’re united at the altar (myself as the wedding singer included!). And of course, we need an iconic music choice to support such a special moment.

*WEDDING SINGER TIP

There are two approaches I usually suggest to my couples when they ask for advice on choosing their aisle entry song — regardless of genre or artist:

  1. Choose a song that has a natural musical build and crescendo — something you can time perfectly for that “first look” or entry moment.

  2. Opt for something soft and simple throughout, allowing the main focus to be on you two as a couple, with the music gently supporting your union.

Any professional wedding singer will also be able to help with things like song timings, cues for the wedding party’s arrival, and fading out the song at the right moment if needed.

As a vintage-style wedding singer who specialises in old-school music, I’m even more biased when I say there’s just something extra romantic and special about vintage songs. Just think of the most iconic romantic films and TV series, how often is music from the past used as the emotional backdrop?

Music from the past evokes a sense of everlasting, timeless love that transcends eras. It makes perfect sense that vintage-style songs are one of the easiest ways to make your wedding ceremony feel instantly dreamy and classic.

So, as someone with extensive knowledge of old-school music across genres (and who’s sung at many weddings!), I’ve put together a handy list of 10 aisle entry songs you can use for your own wedding music inspiration. Some of these have been used by real couples, while others are personal favourites I think would sound beautiful during your ceremony entrance.

VINTAGE WEDDING Ceremony Aisle ENTRY Ideas

  1. Can’t Help Falling in Love with You – Elvis Presley (1961) The number one ceremony aisle entry song for a reason, it’s the epitome of timeless romance. There are also many gorgeous acoustic covers, such as the Haley Reinhart version (see a real bride Emily's entrance below).

  1. Unchained Melody – The Righteous Brothers (1965) A perfect example of a song with a beautiful crescendo that suits an entrance or reveal moment. It’s also a memorable film soundtrack (you know the scene in Ghost). Fun fact — it was also my grandparents’ wedding song, so it’s extra special to me as your singer.

  1. Blackbird – The Beatles (1968) Not the most obvious Beatles love song choice, but thanks to TikTok’s recent revival, it’s becoming a popular pick for those cute AF couple moments. A simple, old-school song that lets you two shine.

  1. Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Judy Garland (1939) A historical song for a truly memorable moment. There are also many beautiful versions — like Eva Cassidy’s or sweet ukulele cover.

  1. I’ll Be Seeing You – Billie Holiday (1944) From The Notebook soundtrack — need I say more? It doesn’t get more romantic and timeless than this.

  1. Songbird – Fleetwood Mac (1977) This ’70s classic is a soft, lullaby-style serenade that many of my couples have chosen for their ceremony soundtracks.

  1. So This Is Love – Disney’s Cinderella (1950) If you’re going for that fairytale wedding moment, what better choice than a true vintage fairytale song?

  1. Annie’s Song – John Denver (1974) Another request from a real couple a simple, stripped-back serenade (see video below!). It’s also a chance to show off your impressive music taste.

  1. Wonderful Tonight – Eric Clapton (1977) I consider this the original version of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect. It tells the same kind of love story but with an old-school, timeless flair.

  1. God Only Knows – The Beach Boys (1966) An ethereal vintage song that feels uplifting and sweet rather than slow and somber. Acoustic versions work beautifully, too, and if it’s romantic enough for the Love Actually soundtrack, it’s perfect for your love story.

  1. Heaven – Bryan Adams (1985) Okay, this one’s a little more modern, but it’s a personal favourite of mine. Over the years, I’ve noticed how many guests mention the memories it brings back. I think it’s well on its way to becoming a timeless classic. Many couples choose an acoustic guitar version for their ceremony soundtrack.

And there you have it, a selection of vintage-inspired gems to soundtrack your walk down the aisle, all adding a timeless touch to your wedding day playlist. Whether you’re after that iconic, once-in-a-lifetime entrance moment or simply some classic tunes to set the mood, let this list be your guide to timeless romantic inspiration.

Congratulations on your wedding planning, and happy song selecting!
